A short musical for younger students!
Premise: Bedtime for an 8-year old can be a difficult time. Parents are keen to get their child into bed early and get through the night-time rituals, while the child is often finding ways to stay up. Some are just keen to play, while others may be scared of the dark and afraid of their room. Into this world comes ‘The Sandman”, invoked by a school library book a mythical being who sprinkles stardust in children’s eyes to help them sleep or break their resistance, whether they believe in him or not. This opens up a world of fantasy where it is unclear what is real and imagined and where the manifestation of dreams can be comforting, optimistic and bright like the well-meaning Sprites, or sometimes worrying, scary and dark – the Horrors!
